Plan for 2012

plan-for-2012

First, I want to thank my readers for your advice and support, you guys are awesome.
I’ve decided on how to proceed with Roza, in a way that I can keep producing new content regularly.
First, I’m going to put a hold on coloring chapter 4 pages. I’ll republish the rest of the rough pages so that the story is complete. Meanwhile, I’m rebooting the story outline and roughing out a new plot for chapter 5. When that’s ready, I’ll start posting chapter 5 pages in greyscale. The look of the characters may be a bit different in chapter 5, but don’t worry, the changes won’t be too drastic. Hopefully this will allow me to continue the story and still have free time to relax and enjoy other hobbies as well.

I take this opportunity to tell you how much I like your work. I particularly like that your heroine is rather plain-looking – cute, but kinda homely and rustic. I find it refreshing, for some reason.

I’ve been a lurker for a while so now might be appropriate to show my appreciation… Thank you so much for Roza, the story is compelling and the artwork is beautiful! Also, thanks for not giving up on Roza. I love this comic and I’m so glad it continues as a compromise.

For some reason…I'm preferring this gray-scale look over traditional coloring. Maybe it's just the nature of this chapter – what with ghosts and all – that it just clicks?

  4. Mary says:

ah, a new plot! I have certainly found that can improve one’s interest in continuing a story. Hope it helps!

  5. vas says:

Looking forward to the further development of Roza’s story. It is fascinating.

    Why do ghosts need water?????

    • vas says:

      > Why do ghosts need water?

I suppose they can be visible only if there is vapour or fog of some sort in the air :)

    • Ryn says:

They don’t know they’re ghosts. They don’t see anything different. They probably still feel hunger too.

      • Kelly says:

Bingo! They don’t know they’ve been cursed. They’ll wake up in about 1000 years and only then may realize what’s happened.

  7. Aikachi says:

Hooray! I’m very excited that Roza will continue! I’m glad you found a way for it to work with your needs and your schedule too c: I can’t wait for new pages, but I will definitely enjoy rereading chapter 4!

  8. CJ says:

Hurray! So glad that you have found a way to balance life, work, and hobby. I am excited to see what comes next. Your work is so distinct that I haven’t found a replacement for it in all of comic-dom.

  9. khiton says:

Glad to see an update! I will certainly miss your beautiful color pages, but you do what you have to do. Will the chapter covers still be in color?

  10. Finn says:

Yippee!!! I’ve missed reading Roza. I look forward to reading more :)

  11. Silvre says:

Oh, I’m so happy to see an update! I hope you had a restful break. :)

I want you to know how much I love this comic, it’s just so beautiful and different than anything else I read.

Looking forward to the revision and new looks!

Long time reader, (And I mean long….years) first time poster.

I really enjoy your style, method of story telling, characters, and its just a blast to read. I read that you’ve been going through a rough patch, but I would like to show my thanks. I hope you get back into a spot where the mojo comes back.

Although I looked back at your “rough pages”, and I have to say….THOSE WERE ROUGH?! HOW. THEY WERE SO WELL DONE.

Anyways, keep up the good work, lovely ma’am. :)

    Thank You Jest Thank You

  14. WeAreTheOthers says:

EXCELLENT. I, like some others, have been lurking here for a while, and I, like some others, am very impressed with your work. I love everything about this comic. Please continue soon!

  15. Nessa says:

Whoa! Good thing I checked today. Two new pages!! I absolutely adore this story. I’m very glad you’ve found a way to continue it that works for you. :-) (I don’t even mind not being in color, though the colored pages are gorgeous!)

    • vas says:

      Nessa,

You certainly should subscribe to the RSS feed. Thanks to the RSS technology, you know about the new pages as soon as they are out.

  16. Skiddles says:

So let me get this straight (off topic) do you do transparent shading with a brush, then apply the color on another layer?

    • Kelly says:

I usually do shading on a separate layer above the colors, then the shade layer is set to multiply and opacity reduced to about 60%.

  17. Ireth says:

I had an idea just now that might save you some time and energy. This most recent page and some that follow are obviously a flashback of some kind — I think it would be an interesting stylistic choice if you kept them in black and white while the present scenes are colored, to differentiate between them a little more. Just a thought, feel free to disagree. :)

  18. Aikachi says:

I think we skipped a page or two just now? If there are any new readers, or readers that have forgotten what just happened, they might become confused…

  19. Marscaleb says:

I want to comment on pages of the comic but you won’t let us!

  20. Kuroro says:

Just wanted to say, thank you for continuing the comic. I like the greyscale (and color too!- but I’m so happy you’re continuing!!!!) :) THANK YOU!!! :)

  21. Garrett says:

I hope you find your way back to this story someday. :) I would love to know where it leads. :)
