Name Meanings

name-meanings

Here’s an interesting tidbit about the meaning of names for the characters introduced so far.
I try to chose names that suit the personality or history, but sometimes a random name just fits best, as in the case of the Jaru brothers.

Roza
: Slavic form of ‘Rose’, the flower or the color.

Nic : usually short for ‘Nicolas’, but may refer to his penchant for stealing things.

Aryon : variation of ‘Arion’. In Greek mythology, a magical horse born of Poseidon and Demeter.

Isard : the French common name for the Pyrenean Chamois.

Esten : variation of ‘Espen’, meaning ‘God Bear’

Leith : Scottish and Gaelic word meaning ‘broad river’. In Greek mythology, ‘Lethe’ is the river of forgetfulness which flows through the Underworld.

I like hearing the roots of names and words. (: It’s interesting to see how much or how little they can apply to a character.

  4. Gwyn Belli says:

Leith is a girl. Multiple times she is referred to as one. Though we might not think it when we see her, she is. I like her character design as well as her name.
